ANTU YACOB, PLAYWRIGHT

Antu Yacob is an actor, writer and producer. Her play On My Deen premiered at InterAct Theatre in June 2025. Her plays have been featured in the Kampala International Theatre Festival (Uganda), United Solo Theatre, Project Y Theatre, Theatre167, Mile Square Theatre and the Symposium on African Global Migration.Her film Love in Submission was part of the Full Spectrum Features’ collection: Our Right to Gaze: Black Film Identities. It screened in various festivals including New York African Film Festival, Women of the Lens (UK), and received an Honorable Mention in the Black Muslim Girl Fly Festival. Antu served as a producer for Adrian Luke Sinclair’s Conjure starring Sidiki Fofana, which won the Vanguard Award in the 2017 Hip Hop Film Festival. As an actor, Antu’s onscreen credits include: Rob Peace(written/directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor), Jelly (2023 ABFF/HBO Short Film Award Winner), Night Comes On, “Inventing Anna”, “The Other Two”,  “Daredevil”, “Gypsy”, “Law & Order: SVU”, Adieu Lacan, Signs of Aging, Brooklyn Park, Conjure. Stage credits include work with The Fire This Time Festival, American Slavery Project, Primary Stages, Sheen Center, Crossroads Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Luna Stage, Cincinnati Playhouse, Philadelphia Theatre Co., Peterborough Players, Mixed Blood Theatre, Pangea World Theatre and Pillsbury House Theatre. Her voice can be heard on the Druid Hillsepisode of Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History and the audiobook Addis Ababa Noir by Maaza Mengiste. As an Associate Producer with Project Y Theatre, she curates All Hands on Deck, a commission series of new plays by female writers of the African diaspora.

CAROLYN MICHELLE (Director)

Carolyn Michelle is an actress, director, and creative coach working across film, television, and theater. She recently appeared in the award-winning film Familiar Touch and has held recurring roles on The Chi, And Just Like That…, Russian Doll, and House of Cards. A former Visiting Lecturer at Cornell University and co-director of Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab, Carolyn brings a collaborative, actor-centered approach to storytelling and directing.
