It’s August 1994 and every day, sixteen-year-old aspiring aviator Jeri Robertson tries to show everyone who she really is: the greatest pilot to come out of Atchison, Kansas since Amelia Earhart. But no one takes her seriously—least of all her mother, Lisa, who’s convinced that Jeri is destined to be an accountant. So when rebel new girl, Celeste, drops into town and wants to join Jeri’s flight club “The Airhearts”, Jeri’s convinced that she’s met her soulmate... And when Celeste beckons Jeri to fly off on an adventure to Seattle, Jeri makes the dangerous choice to take off after her–literally. Plane Girl is about the sacrifices we make for love and explores themes of girlhood, motherhood, and what it takes to embrace who you are with all of your flaws
